Welcome to 2025 – A Year to Reclaim Our Lives

Happy New Year, Linkedlies community!

As we step into 2025, it’s a time for reflection, hope, and planning for the year ahead. Yet, amidst the celebratory fireworks and resolutions, we must confront a sobering reality about the world we inhabit—a world dominated by corporate structures that often treat us as mere cogs in an ever-expanding machine.

The Romanian philosopher Emil Cioran once wrote:
“When you no longer agree with the world, neither in thought nor in heart, run and don't stop, so that the rhythm of the steps surrounds you and makes you forget that nature is made of tears. Otherwise you will be a suicide gardener again.”

Cioran’s words remind us that when faced with a world that no longer aligns with our values, we must find the courage to escape its grip. The corporate environment, with its relentless prioritization of profit over people and conformity over individuality, is unlikely to change. If we don't actively seek alternative paths, we risk becoming trapped in a cycle of despair, tending to a system that erodes our humanity.

A Call to Action for 2025
This year, let’s commit ourselves to finding and fostering alternative ways to reclaim our lives and purpose. Here’s how we can start:

1. Question the System:
Challenge the status quo at your workplace and in your life. Ask yourself: Are you living for your values, or are you conforming to the values imposed by a corporate system?

2. Seek Autonomy:
Explore paths that give you greater control over your life—whether it’s pursuing independent work, starting your own venture, or learning new skills that free you from dependence on traditional structures.

3. Build Community:
Linkedlies exists because we believe in the power of collective critique and shared experiences. Together, we can support each other in navigating the toxic aspects of corporate culture and seeking better alternatives.

4. Advocate for Change:
Speak up about unfair practices and toxic environments. While corporations may resist change, collective voices have the power to inspire shifts in behavior and accountability. When I created Linkedlies last year, my vision was to provide a space where people could freely and anonymously critique corporate culture and share strategies for navigating and ultimately escaping its grip. Unlike platforms like LinkedIn, where users are required to use their real names and are often scrutinized by HR or colleagues, Linkedlies offers the freedom to speak openly without the fear of burning bridges. Here, you’re not forced to curate every word or action to avoid the risk of being fired or damaging your reputation and future job prospects. This is your space to be honest, share your truths, and find ways to thrive beyond the constraints of the corporate machine.

Remember, the Power is in Our Hands
Cioran’s words challenge us to take action and escape the world that no longer serves us. Systemic change will not come from within the machine—it must come from those brave enough to leave it behind and forge new paths. Linkedlies is more than just a forum; it’s a refuge, a space to dream, and a launchpad for action.

Here’s to a year of courage, honesty, and transformation. May 2025 be the year we begin to write our own stories and reshape our destinies.

Let’s continue exposing the farce and building a future where we are no longer cogs but creators.

Happy New Year! Share your thoughts, hopes, and resolutions for 2025 below. Let’s make this year count!
